Dear Guests,

Welcome to the Laurel Hill Bed and Breakfast. The Town of Wales
was for many years called Shawville and our farm house was built in 1863 for the daughter and son-in-law of wealthy textile mill owner, Elijah Shaw.

The barn was built a few years later to house the carriages used locally and on the stage coach route.

When we acquired the property in 1985, the barn was in serious
disrepair and we began the long process of stabilizing and rebuilding. In
2002 we opened this beautifully rehabilitated structure for our guests to enjoy the peaceful setting at the foot of Laurel Hill on the Shawville Pond.

Please let us know how we can help you to be comfortable and make
the most of your stay. The apartment provides a private setting with a
number of amenities. We will provide a breakfast for you .The
fourteen acres of property on all sides of the house are excellent for walking and include a stream and a Civil War era cemetery at the top of the hill.

Sturbridge has many restaurants and there are others scattered
around the area; we will be pleased lo make recommendations. In addition to Brimfield Antique Show and Old Sturbridge Village, there are many things to see and do in the area. We hope your stay is pleasant and memorable.
