SHS Sturbridge Historical Society - First Meeting of the 2017-2018 Year

Tom Kelleher, historian and Curator of mechanical arts at the Old Sturbridge Village will give a presentation: Taverns and Tavern Life in Early New England. Taverns played a large role in the public life of the community. Typical drinks, food, and common topics discussed. The presentation covers what it was like in the Taverns on the highways and town center villages of New England. Tom is current president of the International Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums. Tom holds a Master’s in history from the University of Connecticut, and writes often for a variety of magazines and journals, including Early American Life.
Society meetings are free of charge with dessert provided by innkeeper Mike Glick. Our sincere thanks go out to Mr. Glick also for providing a meeting room for society meetings each month. Dues for the yearly membership are $10 and membership begins September 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
